HMS held to one hit in WEC loss to Hinton
Logan Kempema tossed a five-inning one-hitter as Hinton dealt Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn a 13-0 baseball loss June 5 at Hartley. The sophomore struck out seven in dropping HMS to 0-4 in the War Eagle Conference.
Lawton Schiphoff’s single was the lone hit for the Hawks. Hunter Daggett and Grant Kunzman each drew walks. Jack Mastbergen was hit by a pitch and Aidan Espeland reached base on an error.
Hunter Daggett got the mound start and pitched 3-2/3 innings. He allowed seven runs on four hits. Just two of the runs were earned. The eighth grader struck out five batters and walked five. Grant Kunzman’s 1-1/3 innings of relief included six unearned runs on five hits and one walk. HMS was guilty of five errors.
