Eight Sanborn junior high band students will travel to Storm Lake for the solo contest which is sponsored by the Buena Vista College. They are Joan Bixenman, Kris Hakeman, flute; Cathy Dasen, Carol Hakeman, clarinet; Mary Thomas, saxophone; Kathy Wachtel, trumpet; Janice Van Veldhuizen, cornet; and Lori Peterson, snare drum.
Jake Dekker, Jr. has decided to discontinue farming and will offer at auction the large line of farm machinery on March 18.
Sanborn’s town council and the light plant board of trustees has hired an architect to suggest a site and make preliminary sketches for our proposed golf course.
Art Alons and family moved this week Monday to Bellingham, WA where they will make their home.

Mike Wallinga won the American Legion State Oratorical Contest held in Huxley on March 3.
The Farm & Home Show, sponsored by the Sanborn Chamber of Commerce held here Saturday, was reported a huge success.
Iowa United Methodist Bishop Charles Jordan has appointed the Rev. Paul Hansen, retired of Spencer, to serve as interim pastor of the Marathon and Rembrandt United Methodist churches…Prior to his retirement, Hansen served in Sanborn.
