Thursday, March 25, 1971
High winds and 11 inches of snow teamed together to create severe blizzard conditions to northwest Iowa all day Thursday and part of Friday, just previous to the first day of spring…by late Thursday afternoon roads were impassable and both sides of highway 18 in Sanborn were lined with truckers waiting for the storm to pass…O’Brien County had one of the worst electrical outages in 25 years…telephone service in the town of Sanborn was disrupted at times.
The Standard Cafe and Lounge is being enlarged and remodeled. An 18’x17’ addition is being added to the lounge. The dining area is also being redecorated.
