Miss Dorothy Irving, Town Clerk, was guest of honor at a farewell party at the Municipal Building Wednesday afternoon…Miss Irving started working as town clerk in July 1947, the same year the Municipal Light Plant was built…Otis DeVoll was mayor at the time…Dorothy and her sister plan to spend the summers at their cottage at the Lakes and travel in the winter.
The Sanborn Chamber of Commerce will sponsor a Singles Bowling Tournament for men and women at Bowl Mor Lanes April 20, 21,23 and 24. The proceeds of the event will go to the “Scoreboard Fund” sponsored by the Mi’Ono Club.

A horse drawn hearse and white carriage led the funeral procession for Leonard W. Blok in Sanborn April 2. Funeral services were held April 1 in Sioux Falls, SD and at the Sanborn Presbyterian Church on April 2. Burial was in Roseland Cemetery. Leonard retired from farming near Sanborn in 1965 and later moved to Sioux Falls, SD in 1971 and Lennox, SD in 1987. (Several pictures of the funeral procession were in this issue of the Pioneer.)
