Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn scored in every inning on the way to a 15-1 victory over Harris-Lake Park May 28 at Lake Park. With the War Eagle Conference win, HMS moves to 1-0 in the loop and 1-1 overall.
Unofficial stats showed the Hawks with nine hits. The three-run first included RBI singles from Taya Mason and Gracie Knobloch. In the third Darby Mastbergen tripled and scored on Knobloch’s double. Jessica Riedemann singled home a run in the fifth. Abby Kunzman singled and scored in the sixth. The six run seventh saw HMS draw six walks but Knobloch did contribute a two-run single.
While in the pitcher’s circle, Knobloch allowed only two hits and struck out 13 batters. She issued just two walks. The eighth grader’s first varsity start became her first varsity win.
