Jeane Van Veldhuizen and Harriet Van Veldhuizen picked up Arlene Boscaljon at Sheldon and went to Rock Valley where they met Coreen Van Sloten for noon lunch and then enjoyed visiting at Coreen’s home over coffee and dessert. They also spent a little time at the home of Jeane’s niece, Andrea Van Ginkel to visit with Jeane’s sister, Esther Vanden Berg and Esther’s daughters Andrea of Rock Valley and Lisa from Montana, and Andrea’s daughter, Emily Van Ginkel. On the way home Jeane and Harriet visited their niece, Nelva DeBoer at Village Northwest in Sheldon.
On June 5 Barb Pry traveled to New London to visit her son Tommy Pry and grandchildren Emma, Addie and Parker. They enjoyed dinner out and on Sunday spent the day on the river at the campsite and boated all day long. That evening Barb traveled to Grays Lake, IL to visit her sister, Brenda Noll and family. On Tuesday the Noll family: Mike and Brenda, the Brady Noll family: Brady, Kate, Quinn, Elle and Knox; the Jordan family, Kevin, Kaylee, Nolan, Clayton, Willow and Penny Mable, along with Sarah Noll and Barb Pry enjoyed four days at a VRBO in South Haven, MI. She stated that it was a busy four days with visits to the lake, time in the pool, visits to parks and downtown South Haven. Everyone had a wonderful time thanks to Mike Noll.
Don Hakeman was a Saturday supper guest in the Jack and Carol Elgersma home. Father’s Day dinner guests were Don Hakeman, Andy and Brandi Wright, Maci, Jack and Kennedy.
Sally Knowlton had many visitors this past week. Her sister, Sharon and Lloyd Jongerius of Colmo, WI came Saturday and are visiting; their daughter and husband, Kristi and Brian Dubey of Milton, WI came Saturday; also Eddie Knowlton of Crescent, Bobby Knowlton of Primghar, and David Amundson of Canton, SD. Sharon will stay for a longer visit with Sally.
Josh Brown of Sioux Falls, SD came Friday to visit in the parental Randy and Darla Brown home. He also helped his friend in Hartley work on their house. He returned home on Sunday.
On Friday afternoon Edna Kiel of Orange City and Adeline Dolphin of Hospers visited in the Corky Camarigg home.
Jeff and Karen Smith of Zionsville, IN visited his mother, Shirley Smith last Thursday and Friday.
Mike and Judy Visser hosted Father’s Day dinner Sunday. Guests were Lee and Susie Van Tol, Gertie Visser, Shane Davis, and Justin and Mandy Hoekstra and family of Hull.
Father’s Day guests in the Hank and Mary Iedema home Sunday were Doug and Michelle Van Kley of Edgerton, MN and Rick and Alisa Stanton of Sibley.
Jim and Becky Suckow spent Father’s Day weekend with their daughter, Amy Suckow at Eden Prairie, MN. Joining them there was their son, Andrew Suckow of West Des Moines.
Larry and Fran Peelen enjoyed a visit from Kathleen Lotman and friend Jeff from Lakewood, CA. Kathleen and Jeff own a Beaver motor home, which Jeff has refurbished. They have been attending Beaver rallies on their way to Kathleen’s daughters home. Kathleen and Larry are cousins. Tim and Wendy Peelen of Sanborn joined the Peelens and Kathleen and Jeff for lunch and visiting. On Monday Lyle Peelen from Sibley and David Peelen from Okoboji joined the Peelens and Tim Peelen and Kathleen and Jeff spent the day visiting. Jeff is a collector of cast iron cook ware and Fran Peelen took him to Treasure Chest where Jeff found a cast iron griddle. She then gave Jeff a tour of Sheldon. Jeff was amazed at the size of Sheldon and Sanborn, he thought these towns would be much smaller. Jeff and Larry attended a Value Added meeting where Jeff learned why our communities are thriving. The Peelens then gave Kathleen a tour of the Peelen farm where her mother grew up. They stopped at the Getting Strawberry farm for a hot dog lunch. Larry and Fran were celebrating their 63rd wedding anniversary. Tim and Wendy joined them for a dinner celebration at East Lake Okoboji. Tim took everyone for a drive around Arnolds Park. Kathleen and Jeff left Wednesday for Minneapolis to attend a graduation of her grandson from high school and a championship volleyball game that her grandson played in.
