Kim Eliker and son Ryker of Lincoln, NE visited in the Randy and Candice Lyman home over Railroad Days. They left last week Tuesday.
Barney and Lindy Buren hosted a family reunion Saturday of R.R. Days weekend. Attending were many cousins they had not seen in 21 years. They came from Oklahoma, Nebraska, Georgia, Tennessee; Ames, Sioux City, Denison and Estherville. Approximately 45 attended a meal at the Methodist Church Saturday evening. Staying in the parental home for a few days were James Carney and Krista Ewoldt and granddaughter Nesari. Josh Carney and family also visited Friday evening. Lindy and her siblings Harry Stowell, Ginger Kerr and Rick Stowell also were together after a lengthy absence. She reported that it was a great time of fellowship for everyone. Another reunion is being planned by two cousins for next year.
Mike Brown of Aurora, CO came to Sanborn on Thurs., July 22 and celebrated Randy Brown’s birthday with him and attended his class reunion on Friday night. He left Saturday morning, the 24th, to visit his mother, Ellen Brown in Creston before returning home. Randy and Darla Brown’s daughter, Nicole of Aurora, CO came July 22 and helped Randy celebrate his birthday. She was also here for Railroad Days and visited with friends and attended her class reunion on Saturday night. She returned home on Sunday, the 25th. Randy and Darla Brown’s son, Josh of Sioux Falls, SD came Thurs., July 22 to celebrate Randy’s birthday. He was also here for Railroad Days and visited with friends. He returned home on Sun., the 25th. Additional visitors for Randy’s birthday Thursday evening, July 22 were Joe Brown, Gary and LaVonne Daggett and Francine Brandt, all of Sanborn.
On July 25 friends Kathy Ginger, Carol Salazar, Cindy McParland, and Susan Leth went to Sioux City to the Hard Rock Casino to spend the evening and enjoyed shopping. They returned home Monday afternoon. All enjoyed a fun time.
The David Ingram family of Fairbanks, AK returned home last week Monday after visiting her grandmother, Charlotte Dasen. Ryan Horstman returned home to Fairbanks on Tuesday. Jeff Dasen of Scottsdale, AZ and Anita and Steve Goetz of Fairbanks returned to their homes on Saturday. Additional R.R. Day guests of Charlotte Dasen unintentionally omitted last week were the Jim Stallmans, and Kirk Warnke of Manson.
On Saturday evening Jose and Carol Salazar enjoyed supper out with grandson Eric Salazar and fiance Keely Swanson to celebrate her birthday. They reported an enjoyable evening.
The Rite of Confirmation was held during the morning worship service at St. John’s Lutheran Church on Sunday. Gregory Peterson, son of Rob and Valerie Peterson was the confirmand. The Rev. Joseph Bangert, pastor, performed the Rite of Confirmation.
Matthew and Emily Rozeboom and son Jud of Omaha, NE spent the weekend in Sanborn visiting grandparents Linda Rozeboom and Ray and Henri Schnurr.
Roberta Butson of New Hampton visited Saturday morning in the Jim and Becky Suckow home. Her husband, Don and son, Jake joined them for lunch at Jay’s Restaurant.
Saturday evening supper guests in the Jim and Becky Suckow home were Don Hakeman and Jack and Carol Elgersma. They were also Sunday dinner guests in the Suckow home.
Jane (Beyer) Stannard took Sally Knowlton to Prairie View Manor this past week where they visited Darleen Lode, Donna Fell, Jeane Van Veldhuizen and others. David Amundson and Janie Slade of Canton, SD came Sunday and took Sally to Jay’s Restaurant for dinner. They and Sally stopped by to say hello to Barb Pry before taking her home.
Last Sunday Emily Bosch of Orange City and her fiancee Isaiah Blok of Sioux Falls, SD paid a visit to Naomi Bosch and Jackie Van Engen. They all enjoyed a delicious lunch at Jay’s Restaurant and spent time catching up on family activities and future plans. Emily will be going to Ankeny soon where she will be student teaching at South Polk and continuing her job at Wells Blue Bunny in Le Mars. Isaiah is a financial officer in Sioux Falls, SD. All enjoyed the beautiful weather.
