Sam Heyn, a key member of this past season’s Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn varsity baseball team, was named by the Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association to their Academic All-State Second Team.
A panel of coaches selected these senior players who demonstrate outstanding academic, moral and athletic characteristics.
The first team consists of the top 24 players, nominated by their coaches, who demonstrate outstanding academic, moral, and athletic characteristics. The next 21 players receive a second team all-academic certificate.
This marks the 35th year that the IHSBCA has recognized student athletes with inclusion on its All-Academic Teams.
