Mostly Quiet Elections

Local elections will be held this year on Tuesday November 2. This election is for cities and school districts only. Two seats of the Sanborn City Council and the mayor seat have reached their term. Mayor Randy Lyman has placed himself on the ballot for another term to serve the people of Sanborn. He has no challenger.
The two council seats, currently filled by Jerry Back and Larry Reitsma are on the ballot. Both incumbents have placed themselves into contention to continue on the council. There are no challengers.
The Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn School District had three terms come to an end. Chad Lyman, District 3 and Scott Vollink, District 5 are both incumbent candidates with no challenger. District 2 has no candidate to fill that position. David Vanderbroek has not gotten on the ballot for District 2.
The Hartley Mayor position is filled by Rodney E. Ahrenstorff and is the only candidate on the ballot for that position. Five candidates are on the ballot for 3 open council seats. Greg Cotter and Nickolas R. Galm are challenging 3 incumbents; Ronald Glen Hengeveld, Brian Myers and Mary Westphalen.
