Incumbents ran unopposed on the City/School election ballot in Sanborn November 2 and all were retained in office by the voters. Mayor Randy Lyman received 113 of the 119 votes cast for that office. Councilmen Jerry Back and Larry Reitsma were also re-elected with 100 and 106 votes respectively. There were four write-in votes for City Council.
The Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn school board will see a pair of incumbents returning. Chad Lyman was re-elected in Director District 3, receiving all but seven of the 330 votes cast. In Director District 5 incumbent Scott Vollink won re-election with 307 votes. There were 59 write-in votes in District 5 with 50 of those being cast for Andy Schierholz.
No candidates had filed for the Director District 2 seat currently held by Dave Vander Broek. Becky Stoltz will assume that seat on the HMS Board after receiving 229 write-in votes. Laura Lux received 38 of the remaining 50 write-in votes.
