The Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn track and field boys saw some different competition April 28 as they traveled to Armstrong to participate in the John Larson Relays. HMS scored 65 points to place fourth. Winning the meet was Algona Bishop Garrigan with a total of 110 points.
The Hawks enjoyed a 1-2 finish in the discus with Adam Schierholz placing first and Keevyn Jacobsma second. Jesse Garcia was fifth in the shot put and Ethan Diehm third in the long jump. Connor Dodd finished second in the 100 meters and fourth in the 200. Aiden Espeland placed in the 800 meters and Bradley Zamudio was sixth in both hurdles events.
On the relay side of things the foursome of Dodd, Diehm, Ryan Borden and Kooper Ebel produced a couple of first place finishes. The quartet won both the 4×200 and 4×400 relays.
