Unearned runs damage Hawks’ chances against Emmetsburg
Emmetsburg scored eight unearned runs as Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn suffered a 12-0 loss June 14 at Hartley. HMS was able to manage only three hits in the game which ended after four innings.
“It was not a great game defensively or hitting,” commented Hawk head coach Stephanie Bronstad. HMS was guilty of three errors.
Gracie Knobloch took the loss. In her four innings she allowed 11 hits, walked four and struck out five.
The Hawks had baserunners in each of the four innings. Abby Kunzman and Abby Otto drew first-inning walks. In the second, Meghan Larson reached on an error and Bailey VerHelst singled. Addison Sheeler and Cadence Klein each recorded a base hit in the third. VerHelst walked with two outs in the fourth.
