Hawk bowlers are winners at West Sioux
Both the Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn boys and girls bowlers came up winners as the Hawks faced West Sioux January 9 at Hawarden. The boys won by 14 pins – 2655 to 2641. For the girls it was 86 pins – 1734 to 1648.
“It was a tight match for boys and girls through the individual games and Baker games as West Sioux had equally matched bowlers,” noted HMS coach Julia Meyer. “The bowlers had to adjust to a little different oil pattern than they are used to seeing, but that is a part of the game. Each meet has been a learning experience, and we will continue to build on what we learned. I am proud of their determination and teamwork to get the wins.”
Dawson Niichell turned in a two-game total of 413. Next were Jack Mastbergen with a 370, Drew Prins with a 363, Marcus Aaron with a 342, Riley Russell with a 318 and Skyler Shaffer with a 279. The HMS boys’ Baker games were 156, 171, 172, 155 and 195 for a total of 849.
High two-game total for the HMS girls went to Annika Overmire with a 250. She was followed by Jordan Lux at 249, Meghan Larson at 248, Lexi Croatt at 207 and Keyanna Brower at 130. The Baker games for the Hawk girls were 156, 125, 123, 140 and 106 for a 650 total.
