Hawk boys pocket loop win over Trinity Christian
Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn limited Trinty Christian to 14 first half points and then scored 26 of their own final frame. The end result was a 69-46 Siouxland Conference victory for HMS February 3 at Hartley, allowing the Hawks to improve to 4-5 in conference play and to 11-8 overall.
The host team shot 47 percent (27-of-58) while holding the Tigers to 31 percent (16-of-51). Trinity did make six of 18 long range shots with the Hawks going 4-for-17 from distance. HMS sank 11 of 16 free throws and the Tigers eight of 13.
The Hawks got 26 points, 18 rebounds and two blocks from Lance Berends. Kooper Ebel supplied 19 points, seven boards, five assists and four steals. Keevyn Jacobsma contributed 13 points and 10 rebounds. Lucas Kroese and Isaac Schierholz each hit a trey to finish with three points and Ethan Diehm scored a deuce.
HMS limited its turnover total to eight. The Tigers turned the ball over 15 times.
