Hawk boys take it outside at Wolverine Early Bird Meet
The outdoor track and field season became a reality March 30 for Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn’s boys. The Hawks were in the field of the Wolverine Early Bird Meet held March 30 at Paullina. HMS accumulated 40 team points to place fifth. Winning the meet was Okoboji, which totaled 164 points.
The Hawks were runners-up in a pair of events. Ryan Borden took second in the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.19. He was also in the starting blocks for the second-place 4×100 meter relay team. Rounding out that unit were Jr Araiza, James Gellerman and Ethan Diehm. Their time was 46.88. That same group finished third in both the 4×200 and the sprint medley relays.
