HMS boys part of strong field at Okoboji Relays
The Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn track and field boys took on the challenge of tough competition at the Okoboji Relays held April 24 at Milford. HMS scored in a number of events to total 37 team points and place sixth. The host Pioneers won the team title with 189 points.
Kooper Ebel finished second in the 100 meter dash. He also anchored the sprint medley team to a runner-up finish. Other members of the sprint med were Ryan Borden, Bradley Zamudio and James Gellerman.
In the discus Adam Schierholz was third and Jacob Cates sixth. Ethan Diehm placed fourth in the long jump and Cates was fifth in the shot put. The 4×200 relay of Borden, Diehm, Gellerman and Ebel earned a third-place finish while the 4×800 relay of Damian Dodge, Carter Dolphin, Bryce Dodge and Blaine Finster finished fifth.
