Hawk girls post season-best score in defeating Unity Christian
The Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn girls reached a new low April 27 against Unity Christian. But since this is golf, that’s a good thing. HMS bested the Knights 206-224 in the War Eagle Conference dual at Sanborn Golf and Country Club.
The Hawks took home two of the four medals. Gracie Knobloch was medalist with a round of 45. Kinsey Schirmer fired a 50 to claim third place. Abby Kunzman shot a 53, her best round of the season. Morgan Grooters carded a 58 and Elise Haack a 65.
“I was super happy to pick up the ‘W’ over Unity,” remarked HMS coach Cheryl Kroese. The girls came in with their lowest total of the season. Obviously our number one didn’t have her best night, but the cool thing about this team is if one person isn’t on, the others can come in with good scores to help us out that night. The previous meet, Elise was the one who came in with the great round when someone else didn’t. I’m just waiting for that meet where we all perform at the top of our game. Such an exciting group of girls to coach!”
