Unity Christian boys post season-best score in beating Hawk golfers
Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn shot under 200 as a team in entertaining Unity Christian April 27 at Sanborn Golf and Country Club. The Knights arrived with their A-game, shooting their low score of the season in defeating HMS in the War Eagle Conference dual 162-199.
Unity claimed each of the four of the medals. The medalist was Titan Hulstein with a round of 38. The low round for the Hawks was the 44 turned in by Jack Mastbergen. He was followed by Slayton McCarter with a 51, Lucas Kroese and Blake Meendering each with a 52, Aiden Bush with a 55 and Ethan Baker with a 65.
“We definitely are playing better golf,” noted Hawk coach Mark Japenga. “I like the work ethic and the adjustments kids are making. We have dropped our scores and continue to improve. We are very young but we continue to work at our skill set and have a good attitude. We are getting better at dealing with the elements. We also are getting more focused around the green and not wasting as many strokes. I look forward to working with the kids towards continued improvement.”
