Emmetsburg busy on the bases in win over Hawks
Emmetsburg put 26 runners on base in defeating Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn 10-0 in six innings June 13 at Emmetsburg. In the end HMS stranded 13 E-Hawk baserunners but also left seven of their own on the bases.
“Kinsey (Schirmer) pitched last night and worked hard on the mound,” noted Hawk head coach Stephanie Bronstad. “Defensively we played well and are still working through injuries. The bats still are not working for us which is killing our offense. Hoping the girls find them again!”
Schirmer walked 11 batters and allowed 10 hits. She struck out three batters and hit one. Five of the Emmetsburg runs were earned. Each team made two errors.
Kamryn Ebel went 2-for-3 at the plate. The other two HMS hits came from Gracie Knobloch and Alexis Grover. Knobloch and Abby Otto each drew walks while Morgan Grooters reached base on an error.
