Jays hit and pitch their way past HMS
Gehlen Catholic posted multiple runs in four of the five innings to defeat Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn 13-0 June 14 at Hartley. The Jays scored four runs in the first inning then three each in the third, fourth and fifth innings to improve to 13-2 on the season.
A pair of Gehlen hurlers allowed the Hawks just two hits in the game. Tanner Tesch singled in the first inning and Evan Eilers connected for a double in the fifth. Jack Mastbergen walked twice.
Tesch got the starting nod and pitched four innings. He yielded 10 runs on 13 hits with nine of the runs being earned. Tesch struck out three batters, walked three and hit one. Tossing an inning of relief was Eilers. He allowed three earned runs on four hits. There were no errors recorded in the game.
