West Sioux picks up WEC win over Hawks
Dueces were wild for West Sioux as the Falcons scored two runs in each of the first three innings against Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn. The Hawks were unable to keep pace and suffered a 7-2 War Eagle Conference loss June 16 at Hartley. HMS dipped to 0-7 in the conference and to 2-12 on the season.
Starting pitcher Tyson Tessum allowed the Falcons six earned runs on eight hits over his 4-1/3 innings of work. He struck out five batters and walked five. Evan Eilers pitched 2-2/3 innings in relief, yielding one unearned run and one hit. He walked three batters, struck out one and hit one. HMS was guilty of three errors.
Trenton Vollink singled and scored in the first inning and Ethan Diehm was hit by a pitch and scored in the seventh. Each stole a base. Tanner Tesch had a hit and an RBI, driving in Vollink. Jacob Cates and Evan Eilers had the other two Hawk hits.
