Steve Goetz arrived back in Sanborn last week Monday on his motorcycle. He had driven from Long Beach, CA earlier, stopped to see his mother-in-law, Charlotte Dasen and then met his friend, Bob Marok in Minnesota. The two traveled to the Head Waters of the Mississippi River at Itasca State Park in Minnesota to begin their fundraiser drive “Because of Quinn.” They rode 4,560.8 miles visiting 16 states and two provinces in Canada before returning back to Sanborn.
Esther D’Agrosa of Boyden, and Anna D’Agrosa and son Pete of Brooklyn, NY visited in the Charlotte Dasen home last week Tuesday.
Jeff Dasen of Scottsdale, AZ arrived last week Tuesday evening to spend time in the home of Charlotte Dasen. Stevie Goetz and Sara Mustard and niece Charlotte and nephew Parker Ingram all of Fairbanks, AK arrived Wednesday of last week, Jim Dasen of Cedar Rapids arrived Friday evening, Jerry and Cathy Gray and Brian of Rochester, MN and Theresa Zafft, Hannah and Conner arrived Friday evening and Drew Zafft drove up Saturday morning to visit and take in Railroad Days.
Kim Eliker and son Ryker of Lincoln, NE came for the weekend to spend time in the Randy and Candice Lyman home and to take in the Railroad Days activities. Ryker rode the fire truck and helped with the RR Days omelette breakfast.
The Wade Tresslers arrived home Friday after attending the Winnebago Grand National Rally in Forest City. They brought their 1975 Minnie Winnie to the rally. There were a little over 600 campers and 1,100 people in attendance.
Railroad Days weekend guests of Cristy Ginger and Heather were Haley and Caleb Malenke and son Jaxson.
Nella Seivert of Harlan came last Friday afternoon to visit in the home of her mother, Sylvia Andringa. She brought two of her grandchildren, Delila and Oliver Fushini of Denver, CO with her. They brought Sylvia fresh apricots to make jam.
Jess Horstman of Keystone Heights, FL came by plane last week Wednesday night. Todd Heitritter happened to be on the same flight and gave him a ride to Sanborn from Sioux Falls. He is visiting in the Charlotte Dasen home and with friends in Sanborn.
Rex and Debbie Raymond took their grandson, Lincoln back to Edmond, OK this weekend where they met up with Lincoln’s parents, Reggie and Jackie to transfer Lincoln “back” to his parents. They and daughter, Cecelia had driven up from Houston, TX to pick up Lincoln.
On Saturday Jose and Carol Salazar’s daughter and family, Christy and Jeremy Ten Kley and children arrived in the home of their parents. They came especially to attend and help with a baby shower in Rock Valley for Eric and Keely Salazar. Jose and Carol will become great-grandparents in August. The Ten Kley family returned home on Sunday to Fremont, NE.
Charlotte Dasen hosted a RR Days BBQ Saturday. In addition to her family and houseguests, guests were Bob Ellett of Iowa City, Mark Noll of Iowa Falls, Steve and Mary Agar of Sibley, Dan and Linda Daggett of Spirit Lake, Jess Horstman of Keystone Heights, FL, Esther D’Agrosa of Boyden, Anna and Pete D’Agrosa of Brooklyn, NY, Charlie and Marilyn Schroeck of Arnolds Park, and Kris Van Beek. In-town guests were Jose and Carol Salazar, Linda Rozeboom, Scott Chrisman and Jim Stallman.
James Carney, son of Lindy Buren, visited her last week. Her sister-in-law, Peg Stowell came for three days to help set up for Lindy’s sale. She reported having a great time with her family.
Visitors in the Connie Ginger home for Railroad Days were Tammy Ginger, Cristy Ginger and Heather, Haley and Caleb Malenke and Jaxson, Tommy Ginger and Carter, Carter’s friend Macy Huisman, Wendy Reitsma and Lacie, Luke and Bree and Pam Prine. Everyone enjoyed several Railroad Days events and plenty of good Food!
While visiting in Sanborn, Tim and Beth Carlson stopped briefly in the Charlotte Dasen home Sunday to visit Anita and Steve Goetz.
Jackie Vander Zee of South Holland, IL and some of her children arrived Friday to take in Railroad Days. They included Crystal and Dwayne Allgyer and their three children from Downers Grove, IL, and Kyle and Nicole Vander Zee of South Holland, IL. and their two children. They enjoyed Railroad Days and plan to stay for the week.
Sunday evening Gordon and Connie Zonnefeld of Sheldon brought their Aunt Jeane Van Veldhuizen from Prairie View Manor to visit their Aunt Harriet Van Veldhuizen.
The Friendly Twelve Birthday Club held their July meeting at the Sanborn Golf & Country Club last week Wednesday noon. Guests were children of former members: Steve, son of Wanda Schuver, Jane (Beyer) Stannard and husband Ed Stannard of Nashville, TN and Galen, children of Sylvia Beyer, and Randy and wife Jo Baumgarn, son of Carol Baumgarn. Remaining members are Nancy Beyer, Mary Ann Grooters and Harriet Van Veldhuizen.
