Sanborn Chamber of Commerce wives are hosting a coffee for ladies who are newcomers to the community, July 30 at 9:30 a.m. in the city park.
Sanborn will be hosting their annual Flea Market August 4. Besides sidewalk sales by merchants on Main Street there are other events all day.
Mrs. Olive Loafman arrived home Monday from a trip to Anchorage, AK. She accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Don Kimmel of Sioux City.
The Sam Vanden Bergs have bought the Mrs. Harry Elgersma estate residence on West 3rd Street. The Vanden Bergs sold their house in the south part of town to Kenneth Elgersma.
TWENTY-FIVE YEARS AGO
Thursday, July 23, 1998
A barn burned to the ground at the Lowell Appleton farm home southwest of Sanborn Tuesday morning. The fire was apparently caused by lightning.
Strong winds caused damage in the area late Thursday night. There was limb and roof damage in Sanborn.
Bob Kroese, former Sanborn resident, was Best of Show honors at the Iowa State Fair Wood Carvers Show at Waterloo. His entry was a realistic carving of a bluejay perched on a pine branch.
