On Saturday, August 22, Delores Popma celebrated her 95th birthday with family at Yesterday’s Memories in Sanborn. All of her children and spouses were present including Ken and Ellie Heitritter of Ft. Charlotte, FL, Paul and Joyce Heitritter of Melvin, Rachel and Wray Wright of Whiting, and Todd and Anita Heitritter of Archer. Relatives came from as far away as California, Washington, and the East Coast. A potluck dinner was enjoyed. Everyone was impressed with the amenities offered in the museum. The party also included the celebration of Delores’s sister, Sandra for her 80th birthday. Sandra lives in Virginia but was here for the celebration. The festivities concluded Sunday morning with a brunch for 60 people held at the Melvin Community Building.
Last week Monday Carol Salazar and Cindy McParlund went to Worthington, MN to visit Carol’s sister, Margaret Larsen. They enjoyed shopping, eating out and had a great visit.
The Norman Holz family reunion was held at Miller Park Saturday. All five of the Norm Holz children and spouses were present. They included Dick and Patty Miller of Smithville, MO, Lon and Deb Holz, Steve and Sharon Holz, Gail and Thomas Geiser, Randy and Debbie Holz all of Sheldon. Special guests were Norm’s nephews Les and Di Jaques of Anoka, MN and Kirk and Tammy Jaques of Sioux City. Attending from Shirley’s side were Kirk and Barbara Utesch, Cathy Pansegrau, and Craig and Elaine Utesch from Correctionville.
Stacy and Roy Eeten of Sioux Falls were weekend guests in the Jack and Carol Elgersma home. Joining them Saturday evening were Josh and Blake Holz of Larchwood, and Brandi, Maci, Jack and Kennedy Wright of Sanborn. They had all attended the Holz family reunion at Miller Park.
Vickie Quinones of Des Moines spent from Sunday to Tuesday of last week in the home of Lorn and Joan Wills. She came to attend the funeral of Aunt Naomi Bosch.
Lee and Starla Reitsma were among a group on a cruise to Alaska recently. The 92 people from nine states left Minneapolis by air to Fairbanks, AK. They toured Fairbanks and Denali before heading out on the cruise, arriving in Vancouver as their destination. They arrived home Thursday evening.
Candice Lyman spent the weekend in the home of Swede and Kim Eliker and Ryker at Lincoln, NE.
Hank and Mary Iedema visited her brother, Bob and Helen Schoon at Spirit Lake on Sunday.
Joanne Anderson was among others enjoying “Play Music on Your Porch” Saturday held on Jill Bouvier’s porch. Performing were Jill, Lavila Nelson and Robin McDowell.
On Saturday Joanne Anderson met her daughter and family, Athena, Wade and Gaven Kellenberger at Rock Valley for a visit. The Kellenbergers are from Sioux Falls, SD.
Lee and Susie Van Tol attended a birthday party Saturday afternoon at Primghar. They helped their twin great-granddaughters, Natalee and Lilee, celebrate their 13th birthday. They are the children of Tim and Rebecca Miller.
Mark and Connie Noll of Iowa Falls stopped briefly Monday morning to visit Charlotte Dasen. They were returning home after a weekend visiting relatives in Minnesota.
Terrie Nissen of Spencer and her daughter, Kendra and son, Zach visited Linda Rozeboom Saturday afternoon.
