GLR Invite is only competition of the week for Hawks
Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn saw action in only one competition this past week. The Hawks took part in the George-Little Rock Cross Country Invitational held October 5 at George’s Otter Valley Country Club.
A pair of seniors were the top finishers for HMS. George Vargas placed ninth in the varsity boys race with a time of 18:42.38. The girls varsity run saw Alexis Croatt finish 22nd in a time of 24:16.98.
Other placings for the varsity boys were Ryan Grotluschen in 23rd, Damian Dodge in 34th, Easton Teal in 46th and Carter Dolphin in 47th.
For the girls Gracie Knobloch placed 33rd, Jocelyn Abonce was 34th, Kamryn Ebel finished 36th and Clara Funk came in 38th.
The HMS boys team placed fifth with a 133 score and the girls were sixth with a 154 tally. Sioux Center earned a score of 33 to win the boys title by one point over Okoboji. The Warrior girls, with a 32 total, cruised a more comfortable 29-point margin over Okoboji.
Two Hawks ran at the JV level. Moises Gonzalez finished 26th in the boys run while Kamrynn Visser placed 35th in the girls race.
