Okoboji/HMS boys go 1-1 to open wrestling season

Wrestling competition got underway for the Okoboji/HMS boys November 30 at Milford as the Pioneers hosted Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire and Spencer. The home squad got a split on the evening, defeating the Titans 42-30 and losing to a tough Spencer team 66-16.
A trio of wrestlers from HMS picked up wins in the dual with GTRA. James Gellerman pinned Luke Malm in just 18 seconds at 175 pounds. The 215-pound match saw Ethan Wiersma win by fall over Treyton Kleve in 3:39. Nathan Stofferan won by forfeit at 113.
HMS wrestlers Camden Ball and Nathaniel Ball each wound up on the short end. At 132 pounds Camden was the victim of a late pin (5:31) by Kenny Ness. Nathaniel lost a narrow 7-6 decision to Aaron Wilson in the 132-pound bout.
Wiersma picked up another win in the match-up with Spencer. He pinned Jake Schipper in 4:52. Losing by fall were Stofferan to Easton Beehler in 2:49, Camden Ball to Tanner Pierce in 1:52 and Gellerman to Jace Fullhart in 4:48.
