Okoboji/HMS girls wrestle twice at home
The Okoboji/HMS girls had the opportunity to wrestle twice in front of the home fans at Milford last week.
The Pioneers entertained Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire and Spencer at a triangular November 30. The host team defeated GTRA 48-27 before falling to the Tigers 60-24.
Picking up two wins on the night were Dulce Ortega at 110 pounds, Krishauna Allen at 155 and Jennesa Gates at 170.
Miley Appeldorn, a student at HMS, wrestled a pair of extra matches in the Spencer dual and won both. She pinned Jacey Brown in just 17 seconds and also won by fall over Amy Jimenez. That match ended in 1:27.
Then on December 2, Okoboji/HMS hosted 18 other teams at the Okoboji/HMS Girls Tournament. The Pioneers scored a total of 87 points to place ninth as a team. First place went to Spencer which earned 201 team points.
Placing fourth individually for Okoboji/HMS were Alyana Alesse at 135 pounds, Avery Ballis at 140 and Jennesa Gates at 170.
