The Okoboji/HMS Invitational was held December 2 at Milford with the host Pioneers finishing sixth. The home team scored 127 points at the Invite, which was won by Fulda/MCC from Minnesota with their 197 total.
The HMS grapplers taking part collected two second-place finishes and one third-place. James Gellerman won both his quarterfinal and semifinal matches by decision at 175 pounds. In the 1st Place Match he lost by fall to Mike Ohotto Jr of Garner-Hayfield-Ventura. Ethan Wiersma was a winner by decision in his 215-pound semifinal. He then was pinned in the 1st Place Match. At 113 pounds Nathan Stofferan lost his semifinal by fall but rebounded with a win by decision in the consolation round. The 3rd Place Match saw Stofferan drop a 5-2 decision.
