Runs are plentiful as Tigers top HMS
Trinity Christian banged out 12 hits and outscored Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn 15-8 May 29 at Hull. HMS had 11 hits of their own but couldn’t keep up in the run department.
Kamryn Ebel took the pitching loss, striking out six batters, walking three and hitting one. All 12 of the Tigers’ runs were earned. The Hawks were charged with four errors.
“Kamryn did a nice job on the mound,” said HMS head coach Stephanie Bronstad. “Bats were hot most of the game and the girls did a nice job base running. Our outfield beat themselves, though, tonight and missed some opportunities to catch some catchable fly balls.”
The Hawks scored two runs in both the first and second innings. They added three runs in the fourth. Trinity plated six runners in the fourth inning as well as the sixth. HMS scored one more time in the seventh.
Kinsey Schirmer belted a two-run homer in the fourth and also had a single in the second. Frankie Mohni went 3-for-4 with a run-scoring single in the seventh. Gracie Knobloch was 2-for-3 including an RBI single in the second.
Natalie Daggett notched a double and a single. Abby Otto deliered a two-run base hit in the first. Ebel walked twice and singled in the fourth. The runs were scored by Ebel, Schirmer and Mohni, with two apiece, and by Knobloch and Lindsey Van Es, each with one. HMS stranded eight runners and the Tigers left three aboard.
