Hawks rally from 0-2 hole to defeat Trinity Christian in five

However, HMS upped its game from that point on and stormed back to defeat the Tigers 3-2 September 10 at Hartley. The winning set scores for the Hawks were 25-18, 27-25 and 15-13 as they picked up their first War Eagle Conference win of the season.
“We talked prior to the game about being aggressive offensively,” revealed HMS head coach Cheryl Kroese. “In the first two sets, we weren’t always doing that. We struggled with execution. We just made too many unforced errors. Between sets two and three the girls did a great job in the huddle of staying positive and talking through what needed to be done. Part of turning things around is trusting in the process and each other. Sets three through five we stayed aggressive offensively, served and serve received well. In addition, they did a fantastic job of reading Trinity defensively and we were able to shut them down more with our block. Each girl on the team contributed to that success. Super proud of these ladies for sticking together and getting the W!
