Points are few as Harris-Lake Park beats Hawk girls
Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn and Harris-Lake Park engaged in a low-scoring battle December 10 at Lake Park. The only real scoring outburst was the 16 points the Wolves posted in the first quarter. That went a long way toward producing a victory for Harris-Lake Park as the Wolves defeated HMS 35-30. The contest was not considered to be a conference game.
Each team shot the ball 52 times, but with limited success. The Hawks made 13 baskets and HLP 12. With six hoops from long range, the Wolves doubled the production of their guests. The Hawks were just 1-of-6 from the free throw line while HLP made 5-of-8.
Gracie Knobloch’s 13 points were matched by the Wolves’ Cora Niemeier. Not surprisingly, they were the game’s only double-figure scorers. For HMS, Frankie Mohni added six points, Moriah Otto five, Lindsey Van Es four and Abby Douma two. Knobloch, Otto, Mohni and Addy Sheeler each had one assist.
The Hawks amassed 50 rebounds, including 19 on the offensive glass. Otto had 19 total boards and Douma 10. Otto stole the ball three times and Kylee Schiphoff two. Douma blocked five shots. HMS committed 17 turnovers while the Wolves turned the ball over 11 times.
HMS 7 5 11 7 – 30
HLP 16 5 11 3 – 35
