One meet was not enough for the Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn track and field boys last week so they journeyed to Paullina April 17 for the South O’Brien Mid-Season Meet. The Hawks finished fifth with 35 points. Gobbling up a lot of the available points was MMCRU which won with 192 of them.
There were no first place finishes for HMS but Blaine Finster placed second in the 400 meter hurdles event. Alex Billings was fourth in the shot put. Fourth place also went to the distance medley relay group of Billings, Mattis Oltmann, Karter Zimmer and Damian Dodge.
Placing fifth were Zimmer in the long jump, Graham Lux in the 400 meters and Easton Teal in the 3200. Relays finishing fifth were the 4×200 of Carter Dolphin, Ryan Grotluschen, Isaac Schierholz and Oltmann, the 4×400 with Lux, James Carlin, Dolphin and Grotluschen and the sprint medley relay of Caden Douma, Mykle Myers, Schierholz and Dolphin.
