Hawk boys lower team scores but still fall to MMCRU and Hinton golfers

Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn hosted two of the top War Eagle Conference boys golf teams last week at Sanborn Golf and Country Club. Although the improving Hawks’ scores have lowered they lost 164-189 to MMCRU on April 21 and 164 to 180 to Hinton on April 22.
“We are playing much better golf as a team,” noted HMS coach Mark Japenga. “We lowered our team score significantly. We also have some young JV players playing some good golf. The seniors are doing a great job of leading and working on their game. We are making better decisions on a more consistent basis. The kids are playing much better the last couple of meets.”
