Knobloch is again medalist as Hawks get another girls golf win

Gracie Knobloch made it two-for-two in first-place medals last week as Hartley-Melvin Sanborn got a War Eagle Conference girls golf win over West Sioux May 1 at Sanborn Golf and Country Club. The senior fired a round 47 to earn medalist honors.
“Gracie continues to be consistent with her game,” noted Hawk coach Cheryl Kroese. “She works hard at practices to improve where she needs to and is a great role model for the younger ladies.”
Putting a varsity team on the course for the second dual in a row, HMS lowered its team score by one stroke, shooting a 268. The Falcons had only three varsity golfers which was not enough to post a team score.
Freshman Mason VerHelst took the third-place medal with her season-low round of 64. Freshman Stella Anderson shot a 73, sophomore Kamrynn Visser Jennings an 84 and freshman Addily Benz an 88. Sophomore Emery Cammann turned in a JV round of 77.
“I’m happy with the growth my younger players are making,” said Kroese. “It was good to get them out these past couple of meets to compete in a varsity role. “Shout out to Mason VerHelst as she was able to gain her first varsity medal!”
