Hawk boys lose to Gehlen and Remsen St. Mary’s

The Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn boys golfers dropped a pair of War Eagle Conference duals last week, falling to Gehlen Catholic 163-192 on May 5 and to Remsen St. Mary’s 176-184 on May 8.
Gehlen, which is second in the conference, entertained the Hawks at the Willow Creek Golf Course in Le Mars. The medalist was the Jays’ Mason Puetz who fired a 39, the only round in the 30s. Jack Mastbergen tied for the fourth lowest score, a 43. Blake Meendering shot 48, Kolby Douma 49, Aiden Bush and Eli Mastbergen 52 each and Lawton Schiphoff 54.

Sanborn Golf and Country Club was the site for the dual with St. Mary’s. The visiting Hawks produced the medalist as Collin Homan shot a 40 but Jack Mastbergen was right behind with a 43, tying RSM’s Austin Klein for the second best score. Meendering and Schiphoff each shot 46. Douma carded a 49, Bush a 50 and Eli Mastbergen a 51.
