The Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn girls track and field team warmed up for the State Qualifying Meet by traveling to Sioux Rapids May 12 to compete in the Sioux Central Invitational. The Hawks performed well enough to score 42 points and finish eighth. The host Rebels won the Invite with a 134 total.
Keely Ebel was fourth in the 200 meters and sixth in the 100 meters. Other individuals placing sixth were Hannah Tessum in the shot put, Brooklyn Edwards in the 1500 meters and Jenna Hengeveld in the 400 meter hurdles.
On the relay side, the 4×400 relay finished fourth with the team of Lexi Schmillen, Kynlee Dolphin, Ava Vogt, and Trinity Tovar. Relays placing fifth were the 4×100 and the 4×200. The personnel for each of those relays were Payton Diehm, Keely Ebel, Kamryn Ebel and Pamela Mutombo.
