Okoboji/HMS girls wrestlers remain undefeated in duals
The Okoboji/HMS girls wrestling team ran its duals record to 6-0 with a pair of wins December 10 at Sioux Center. The Pioneers edged Le Mars 42-36 and defeated the host Warriors 48-27. The Bulldogs won their dual over Sioux Center 48-30.
HMS wrestlers Miley Appeldorn and Natalie Dagel competed in both duals.
At 125 pounds Appeldorn pinned Mackenna Frerichs of Le Mars in just 51 seconds. Her match against Sioux Center’s Martiza MoralesChavez nearly went the distance but the Warrior grappler got the win by fall in 5:17.
Dagel, the 190-pounder, won by forfeit in the dual with the Bulldogs. She wrestled a very competitive match with Sioux Center’s Carlee Pieper, losing a 12-11 decision.
Another HMS grappler, Mahkenzie Mattingly, wrestled two JV matches against the Warriors at 155 pounds. She lost by fall to Avah Gillespie in 1:15 but pinned Quinlynn Klein in 28 seconds.
