The Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn track and field girls placed well in several sprint events as the Hawks competed in Class C at the Lady Orab Invitational held April 21 at Sheldon. HMS was second in the 100 meter dash and also the 4×100 and 4×200 relays. Keely Ebel was the runner up in the 100 and joined Laura Vargas, Payton Diehm and Pamela Mutombo to run the 4×100. The 4×200 team consisted of Vargas, Keely Ebel, Kamryn Ebel and Mutombo.
The Hawks scored 40 team points. Gehlen Catholic totaled 107 points to win the Class C team title by four points over South O’Brien.
Hannah Tessum placed fourth in the shot put and Vargas likewise in the long jump. Vargas teamed with Mutombo and the two Ebels to take fourth place in the 4×400 relay.
