Hawk girls set meet record at Sioux City Relays

Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn enjoyed more than a little success April 9 as a Hawk contingent ventured to Morningside’s Olsen Stadium to take part in the Sioux City Relays. Part of that success included setting a new meet record in Class C. The sprint medley relay group of Emily Mutombo, Abby Otto, Lydia Harders and Jasmine Lux established the new mark of 1:55.13.
That same foursome recorded an additional first-place finish in the 4×100 relay and placed third in the 4×200. Anna VanderVeen joined Mutombo, Harders and Lux on the second-place 4×400 relay team. On her own, Mutombo was sixth in the 100 meters.
Several Hawks participated in all-class events. In the long jump Mutombo was seventh and Otto 21st. Madison Otto placed 15th in the 3000 and 24th in the 1500. Also running in the 3000 was Lexi Croatt who finished 21st.
