Freshman Clara Funk Runs The Chris Smith Invitational Course For The First Time.

Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn tackled the challenging Lake Pahoja course near Inwood and managed to better some times. The event was the West Lyon Cross Country Invitiational held September 12.
Shaving over a minute off their times from last year’s event were George Vargas, Bryce Dodge, Damian Dodge, Ryan Grotluschen and Juliana Pasillas. Gracie Knobloch bettered her time from last season by more than four minutes.
After finishing one place behind Knobloch in the Hawks’ last event, Lexi Croatt outraced her teammate to place 19th at Lake Pahoja. Knobloch finished 26th. Croatt missed all of last season due to an injury. Kamryn Ebel placed 34th, Pasillas 38th and Clara Funk 42nd.
Vargas came in 16th, Bryce Dodge 25th and Damian Dodge 40th. Aiden Bush finished 46th, Grotluschen 47th and Blaine Finster 51st. The boys’ team total was over 30 points lower than their total from last year’s meet.
George-Little Rock/Central Lyon pulled off the sweep, capturing both the girls and boys team titles.
