Hawk boys third at weather-shortened Wolverine Relays
The Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn boys enjoyed enough high finishes at the Wolverine Relays to wind up third in the team standings at the event held May 4 at Paullina. HMS totaled 79 points and trailed only winner Sioux Central and their 112 points and runner-up Alta-Aurelia which finished with 84. Due to uncooperative weather, the meet was ended following completion of the 200 meter dash.
Ethan Diehm was a double winner, capturing both the long jump and the 200 meters. In the discus, Jacob Cates took first place and Evan Eilers finished second. The 100 meter dash saw the second and third fastest times go to James Gellerman and Ryan Borden respectively. George Vargas was third in the 3200 meters and Ryan Grotluschen placed fifth in the 800.
