Comets collect a road win over HMS girls
In a game that saw ebbs and flows through three quarters of play, Boyden-Hull avoided a major lull over the final eight minutes and downed Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn 63-52 January 25 at Hartley. The visitors from the Siouxland Conference led 21-13 after one quarter but the Hawks drew within a point at halftime, 30-29. The third quarter went to the Comets 17-7 and each team scored 16 points in the fourth.
Abby Douma and Moriah Otto each scored 10 points. Douma added six rebounds and five blocks while Otto came away with three steals. Frankie Mohni scored nine points on a trio of treys. Gracie Knobloch contributed seven points, six rebounds and four steals. Kylee Schiphoff and Eliza Tewes each scored five points with Schiphoff grabbing seven rebounds and Tewes six. Addy Sheeler and Kamryn Ebel tallied three points apiece.
HMS went 16-for-47 from the field for 34 percent. That included a 5-of-16 effort from three-point range. The Hawks toed the free throw line 27 times and came away with 15 makes. They turned the ball over 25 times.
