Robert Lowery was elected President of the Chamber of Commerce at their annual meeting held February 26.
Edwin Kreykes left Saturday for Washington D.C. Where he will participate in the 1971 Secondary High School Program of a Presidential Classroom for Young Americans.
Scott Petrich has been given a Portia A. Gake Scholarship of $900 at Iowa State University where he is a Junior in Agricultural Business.
Marie Schuver who was featured last week as winning the sectional free throw contest, has also won the district competition…sinking 23 out of 25 free throw attempts to win the district title outright…she will be among the top contenders at the state tourney later this month on March 12.

Mr. and Mrs. Albert Van Engen will be celebrating their 45th wedding anniversary on March 15. A card shower is being requested by their family.
A piano and organ recital by Beth Vanden Hoek and Deb Van Engen will be held March 17 at the First Reformed Church in Sanborn. The public is welcome.
Mouw’s Martial Arts is conducting classes in the basement of the Sanborn Co-op Grain Co. office each Tuesday night. Dave Mouw is instructor.
Sanborn Foods was a participant in the Iowa Meat Processing Association 60th Annual Meat Judging Competition held February 15-18 in Des Moines…Sanborn Foods received an award for Champion Dried Beef.
