Ross and Amy (Hakeman) Raymond would have been very proud of their family Saturday. They and all of their children have passed on and yet the family continues to gather and share good times with each other. The Annual Raymond May Breakfast Brunch was held in Sanborn Saturday. Forty grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren were in attendance coming from Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin, South Dakota and Colorado. Attending from Sanborn were Ray Huibregtse and Rex and Deb Raymond.
Last Friday Troy Salazar arrived in the home of his parents, Jose and Carol Salazar to spend the weekend for Mother’s Day. Also visiting were grandsons Eric and Alic Salazar of Rock Valley. All enjoyed supper and had a fun time visiting. Troy returned home on Sunday.
Rex and Debbie Raymond took their son Ross of Terril out for supper Sunday in honor of his birthday anniversary on May 10.
Mother’s Day weekend guests of Charlotte Dasen were Jerry and Cathy Gray, and Drew and Theresa Zafft, Hannah and Conner, all of Rochester, MN. They also celebrated Charlotte’s birthday which was May 10. The Zaffts returned home Saturday evening and the Grays were overnight guests. Esther D’Agrosa of Boyden was an additional Sunday dinner guest. This was the first time Charlotte had seen the Zaffts or Esther since a year ago when COVID hit.
Don Hakeman was a Saturday supper guest in the Jim and Becky Suckow home. On Sunday, dinner guests were Don Hakeman and Jack and Carol Elgersma. They celebrated Don’s 92nd birthday anniversary which was on May 10.
Rev. Alan and Wanda Camarigg were Mother’s Day supper guests in the parental Corky Camarigg home.
Darleen Lode was a Mother’s Day guest in the Lee and Lisa Lode home Additional guests were Janet Maranell and friend, Dave of Spirit Lake and Kara Maranell.
Ed and Jolene Greving of Estherville were Sunday afternoon visitors of Sylvia Andringa.
Brian and Shannon Letche and family of Marcus hosted a Mother’s Day evening meal Sunday. Guests were Keith and Nancy Iverson, Brian and Betheny Buren and Jenna, Brent Elgersma, and Chase and Amber Vermeer and Huckson of Orange City.
Wanda Schuver was a Mother’s Day guest in the home of her son, the Steve Schuvers. She received many cards from her family.
Chad and Rhonda Lyman and Jayden took their parents, Randy and Candice Lyman and Lorn and Joan Wills out for brunch on Mother’s Day.
Sandra Rohwer of Marcus, Susan Langholz and Heather Watson of Spencer, spent Mother’s Day with their mother, Naoma Schoof. Sherry Tifft stopped in, as well as Mark and Monte Staton, and Brooklyn, Harper and Colt from the Des Moines area.
Barb Pry was a guest of Sally Knowlton for Mother’s Day. Additional guests were Bobby Knowlton of Primghar, Eddie Knowlton of Crescent, Janie Slade and David Amundson of Canton, SD and Malinda Larson of Sioux Falls. She reported that everyone had a good time.
Weekend guests of Lee and Susie Van Tol were their daughter and son-in-law, Don and Jackie Vander Zee of South Holland, IL, and granddaughter Kayla and Nathan Middel and 11-month-old great-granddaughter Maddie from Naperville, IL. They came especially to attend the graduation of Garret Vander Zee from Dordt University. They also attended the funeral service for Judy Carpenter in Primghar. Additional Sunday dinner guests included Mike and Judy Visser, Gertie Visser and Justin and Mandy Hoekstra and family of Hull.
Hank and Mary Iedema were guests in the home of Rick and Alisa Stanton for Mother’s Day dinner. Other guests included Rick and Alisa’s children: Zak Stanton, Tucker Boone, and Lindsey Mook and her children, Robert and Lexie. In the afternoon Doug and Michelle VanKley of Edgerton, MN stopped by for a visit.
Larry and Fran Peelen attended the graduation of their granddaughter Abby Meyer of Omaha, NE. Abby graduated from Northern Iowa with her masters degree in education. Abby received her hood from the education department with much excitement. The Peelens viewed the graduation by zoom with the Ken and Dianne Meyers in Omaha. They are the parents of Abby. Abby’s other grandparents, John and Carolyn Meyer of Sheldon, were also in attendance. Hannah Meyer had a dance recital at the emporium in Walnut Grove that afternoon. Hannah was in three dances and a helper with younger dancers. The theme ICONS using music through the ages especially the 60s. Hannah does Tap and Jazz dances. She is the daughter of Ken and Dianne Meyer and granddaughter of Larry and Fran Peelen. The Peelens returned home to a wonderful rain.
