Despite some change-ups to the usual lineup, the Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn boys still scored 82 points at the Wolverine Relays held May 6 at Paullina. The Hawks finished fourth as a team. Unity Christian won the team title with 183 points.
In the long jump, Noah Adams was the winner and Ethan Diehm finished third. The discus competition saw Adam Schierholz place third and Keevyn Jacobsma seventh.
On the track, Ryan Borden recorded a third-place finish in the 100 meter dash, just ahead of Dawson Schiphoff. Brenton Thomas was third in the 400 meter hurdles.
Three relays earned runner-up spots: the 4×200 of Adams, Kooper Ebel, Schiphoff and Connor Dodd, the 4×400 of Borden, Travis Kamradt, Dodd and Ebel and the sprint medley of Adams, Schiphoff, Dodd and Ebel.
On Thursday, May 13 HMS will join 13 other teams at Lawton for the Class 1A State Qualifying Meet, which begins at 4:00 p.m.
