The Sanborn American Legion Auxiliary has chosen Francine McCarty, daughter of the Frank McCartys to attend Girls State as their representative.
Beginning May 6 the Sanborn Savings Bank Drive-up Service will be open each Saturday morning from 8-12 for added additional convenience for their customers.
In connection with the centennial observance of Arbor Day Mrs. Mayden’s class and Mrs. Loafman’s class of Sanborn Community School planned to plant two red oaks on the playground.

The City of Sanborn has set May 13 and 14 as “Clean Up Sanborn Days.”
Michael Wallinga is one of 10 Iowa high school seniors on The Des Moines Register Academic All-State Team.
Office Specialist of the Week was Janet Maranell. Her name was drawn to receive the floral arrangement from the Sanborn Pioneer at the Office Specialist Luncheon held at Jay’s Restaurant.

A transformer delivered by General Electric Company, Rome, GA, was unloaded from a low-boy trailer at the Municipal Light Plant Monday morning. It weighs 37,000 pounds and is the key item in the light plant conversion program.
In the last regular American Legion meeting Lowell Dykstra was selected to attend Boys State.

The First Reformed Church parsonage was moved from the lot next to the church last week. Steve Prins purchased it when it was sold at auction and it was moved to Hartley.
Attention Sanborn Residents: Work has started on the Community Building. We will go as far as money will allow. In order to have a nice finished product we need an additional $30,000.00.
Rachel Funke, bassoon, and Matt Havlik, trombone, earned the honor of membership in the 9th annual Iowa Band Masters Association Middle School Honor Band.
