LOCALS NOT PRINTED LAST WEEK
Grayson and Silas Willey, sons of Nick and Paige Willey of Sanborn, were baptized during the Sunday morning worship service at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sanborn. Pastor Joseph Bangert officiated. Sponsors were Keith and Nancy Iverson. Cake and coffee were served after the church service in their honor. Eric Anderson from Tennessee, father of Paige, also was present for the baptism.
Barb Pry returned home late on August 22 from a weekend trip to Seattle, WA. She attended the wedding of Amber Olson to Matt Schwarz. Amber is a niece of Barb and the daughter of Brad Olson.
James Carney, son of Lindy Buren fell recently and went to Sioux City last week to a bone and spine specialist for a diagnosis. He was diagnosed with two ruptured discs in his back, a broken leg and foot. He will be recuperating in a nursing home at Denison.
A Holz family reunion was held Saturday at the Miller Park shelter house in Sanborn with 53 relatives attending. Relatives came from St. Peter, MN, Smithville, MO, Lincoln, NE, Sheldon and Sanborn. All five of the Norm Holz children and spouses were present and most of their families. They included Steve, Randy, Lon, Gail and Patricia. Patricia and Dick’s whole family were present.
Sylvia Andringa and Lois Hakeman drove to Sioux Falls Sunday afternoon where they attended a birthday party in a park in honor of Lily Hakeman on her first birthday. She is the daughter of Brian and Becca Hakeman and granddaughter of Lois.
Saturday evening guests in the Jose and Carol Salazar home were grandsons Eric and wife Keely, and Alic Salazar. They enjoyed ice cream and popcorn and watched the Denver Broncos. They reported a great evening of visiting.
Gary and Janis Rutgers of Alamosa, CO spent Saturday with Larry and Fran Peelen. The Rutgerses and the Peelens wintered in Carriage Manor, Mesa, AZ. They enjoyed renewing acquaintances spending the day visiting about changes taking place in the park.
Esther D’Agrosa of Boyden and Anna D’Agrosa and son, Pete of Brooklyn, NY visited Charlotte Dasen Sunday afternoon.
Anita Goetz of Fairbanks, AK came Monday to visit in the parental Charlotte Dasen home. She has an appointment at the Mayo Clinic at Rochester on Wednesday to have the cast on her wrist replaced with a brace.
Larry and Fran Peelen helped at the Sportsman’s banquet held at the Crossroads Pavilion in Sheldon. The speaker was Mike Tison from Michigan.

Tyler and Sarah Rozeboom, Braelyn and Braxton of Gretna, NE spent the weekend visiting grandparents Linda Rozeboom and Ray and Henri Schnurr.
Amy Suckow of Eden Prairie, MN spent from Saturday to Monday in the parental Jim and Becky Suckow home. Jack and Carol Elgersma were additional luncheon guests on Labor Day.
Mike, Danielle and Bryce Rozeboom of Sioux Falls, SD visited Linda Rozeboom Monday afternoon.
Randy and Darla Brown drove to Creston on Saturday to visit his mother, Ellen Brown. Dennis and Joy Brown were also there.
Sherryl and Wade Tressler went to Plainfield to camp with Al, Vicki and Andy Endorf Labor Day weekend. Jade Paulson and Gage Butler of Iowa City also joined them there.
Last Thursday Linda Rozeboom brought lunch to enjoy with Glenda Miller, Anita Goetz and Charlotte Dasen in the Dasen home.
The Harlan Van Beeks visited with Anita Goetz Saturday evening in the home of Charlotte Dasen. They became acquainted with the Goetzes on their Alaska trip this summer.
Anita Goetz returned home to Fairbanks, Alaska Monday after spending time with her mother, Charlotte Dasen.
