Pioneers go 3-0 in quad at Rockwell City
Okoboji/HMS picked up three dual wins in action at a wrestling quadrangular held January 26 at Rockwell City. The Pioneers beat Woodbury Central 42-33, downed host South Central Calhoun 48-30 and got the best of North Union 45-36.
A total of four wrestlers from HMS competed at the quad.
Bryce Dodge went 3-0 on the evening at 152 pounds. He won by fall over Woodbury Central’s Zack Butler (time not available) and then pinned Michael Trott of the host Titans in 48 seconds. Dodge won by forfeit in the North Union dual.
Ethan Wiersma, wrestling at 195 pounds, won a pair of decisions. He downed Ashton Libke of Woodbury Central 9-4 and edged North Union’s Kacey Hamsmith 9-8. He was pinned by the Titans’ David Melody in 1:58.
James Gellerman’s lone win in action on the mat came against Woodbury Central’s Blase Sanford. Gellerman won a 3-0 decision over the Wildcat 182-pounder. He also pocketed a win by forfeit in the North Union dual. Gellerman was pinned by the Titans’ Naylan Gulbranson in 46 second.
Wrestling at 120 pounds, Jafet Ortiz collected a win by forfeit in the dual with the Titans. He lost by fall to Axton Lindgren of Woodbury Central in 4:32 and was pinned by the Warriors’ Landon Price in 58 seconds.
