The O’Brien County American Legion Oratorical Contest will be held February 8 at 8 p.m. at the courthouse in Primghar…Mike Van Engen is the contestant from Sanborn High School whom Conaway Post will sponsor.
“Have a Heart Day” for Prairie View residents will be February 14. All members and interested parties are asked to have cookies at the Municipal building from 2-5 p.m.
Mr. and Mrs. Gayle Raymond have moved to their new home on Crescent Beach at the lakes area.
Mr. and Mrs. Merle Vander Woude returned home Monday evening after spending a few days vacationing at Las Vegas.
STRAYED: From the George Hakeman’s corner…one red, white and blue flag with broken staff. Anyone knowing whereabouts of same, please lead it down to the city clerk’s office.

Marley and Harold Hoekstra will celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary February 8 at St. Cecelia’s Catholic Church from 2-4 p.m.
Jeanette Graham hosted the Ace of Clubs February 9. Prize winners were Olive Loafman, Eslyn Grooters, and Marna Hakeman.
Kathy Rieck of the Redwood Lounge was successful in her bid for the ugliest bartender in Iowa (U.G.L.Y.) by ranking in the top 10 her very first time and in the state of Iowa first competition.
