A Gals Gathering was held Saturday at The Carnegie Library museum. The festivities were planned by Tonia Onken and Shelly Sommers. Pry relatives and friends were in attendance. Games, prizes and lots of delicious food was enjoyed. It was reported to be a fun gathering and there are plans for more in the future.
On Thursday evening Troy and April Salazar of West Des Moines arrived in the home of his parents, Jose and Carol Salazar. They enjoyed supper and visiting for the evening. Troy and April left Friday morning to drive to the Lakes where they did some work on their home there. They returned home on Sunday.
Bryan and Beka Hakeman and two daughters of Sioux Falls, SD, and Lois Hakeman were supper guests of Sylvia Andringa Sunday. Lois furnished the dinner.
Lindy Buren’s brother, Harry Stowell of Crossville, TN came Saturday for a visit. Connie Gerrard McPherson of Sturgis, SD visited Saturday morning on her way home to Star Ranch after a week’s vacation in Northwest Iowa. Lindy and Connie had not seen each other since 1972.
Saturday afternoon LuAnn Schiphoff, Ruth Hanno, Linda Rozeboom and Janice Gano attended a beauty social at the Lindy Buren home. It was presented by Stylist Sheila Tebben and enjoyed by all.
Swede and Kim Eliker and Ryker; and Jayden Lyman, all of Lincoln, NE, and Morgan Lyman and friend Tanner of Harrisburg, SD came to visit in the Randy and Candice Lyman home Friday. They all came especially to attend the Kids Safety Day at the Fire Station Saturday. Chad and Rhonda Lyman also attended. All enjoyed dinner together Friday and Saturday night at the Randy Lymans. Fun was had by all.
Nick, Theresa and Bella Postma of Ankeny were weekend guests in the Jim and Heidi Postma home. They, along with Brandon and Dylan Postma gathered to celebrate the April birthdays of Jim and Dylan, and Jim and Heidi’s 46th wedding anniversary.
The Lutheran Womens Missionary League Spring Rally for the Northwest Zone was held April 28 at St Paul’s Lutheran Church in Hartley. Guest speaker was Dr. Steven J. Meyer, MD from Sioux City. He is a native of Hartley. Attending from St. John’s Lutheran Ladies Aid in Sanborn were Linda Rozeboom, CJ Schroeder, Becky Suckow and Donna Fell.
The annual Raymond family May Day gathering was held Sat., April 29 at St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church in Sanborn. There were 31 in attendance and it was reported that everyone had a good time. This has been a tradition held for many, many years.
Harriet and Jeane Van Veldhuizen went to Orange City last Tuesday where they met Jeane’s sister, Esther Van Den Berg from Rock Valley. Esther and Jeane visited their brothers and wives, Gilbert and Will Aberson, and also some friends. Harriet attended the funeral service of her relative, Doris De Hoogh, held at the First Reformed Church. After the funeral, Jeane and Harriet visited some other relatives and friends: Pete Aberson, Arlene Punt, and “Vernie” Van Engelenhoven at Landsmeer Ridge in Orange City.
